Men are great; women are great. Men aren’t women; women aren’t men. (Sorry if I’m the one breaking that news to ya.) And I will give you that men (as men) have worn makeup in the past. Also to clarify: this post is also not about stage makeup.

Now that all that’s out of the way, why are current makeup brands using dudes to sell makeup to women, especially any guy who is pretending to be a girl? (I’m looking at you Ulta.) And why are we supporting those companies?
By the way, Sephora has also allegedly not treated conservative beauty influencer Amanda Ensing very well. She now has her own beauty line (see below). And, don’t forget that CoverGirl had a guy as spokesperson.
Maybe not all of this stuff is as big a deal as some people make it; but maybe it is.
If you been around the blog, it’s likely you are already know that I’m a big fan of (although not perfect at) voting with your dollars when you have the option.
Many companies come under the same umbrella of a larger company (such as Coty or Estée Lauder), so even if you’re purchasing from a different brand, you could still be purchasing from the same parent company. How is that for confusing?!
But I have good news. Today, I bring you a small roundup of “non-woke” makeup companies for your shopping — or window-shopping — pleasure. PublicSQ is also running a promo through July 7, 2024 where select items are shipping free, so it seems like a great time to publish this!
I haven’t vetted or tried every one of these options; use them as a starting point to continue your own research. 💄

It’s also a nice bonus to support smaller companies.
Do you have any makeup/beauty brands that support traditional values (or even that just stay out of the agenda-ing) that you love? Please let me know!
