The Covenant shooting was a tragedy, there’s no denying that. It’s heart-breaking.
Of course many on the left will use this tragedy as a way to forward their crusade to ban guns. Will that stop gun violence? Will it stop violence in general?
No. You’ve probably heard this before, but if guns are banned, then the criminals will have guns. Why on earth would someone bent on murdering someone (which is against the law) let a a gun law stop him or her from getting and using a gun?
Don’t you think you’d be safer in an area with responsible gun owners like this guy? At this point, I think it could be safer in a bar full of “good ol’ boys” responsibly carrying guns than in a gun-free zone like a public school.
Another point you’ve likely heard. Guns don’t kill people. Murderers can find a way to murder without a gun. I had a relative (brutally) murdered with a rock or brick. Not a gun. And to take it way back, Cain killed Abel without a gun. People are murdered through the healthcare system too. It’s not a gun problem.
This ABC news article states that at least two of the guns were in fact legal, and also states that the murderer had a plan. Even if the guns were legal, do you think someone with a mapped out plan would let the legalities of getting a weapon stop him or her from a killing spree? Maybe it would; I’m not sure. Also, I don’t hold an awful lot of stock in ABC news’ reporting, so that might need some more research.
When faced with the question of whether or not stricter gun control laws would stop this kind of tragedy, consider this question: what if there had been a responsible gun owner there? Maybe this tragedy could have been stopped without the deaths of 3 children and 3 school employees. And without giving the opportunity for illegal gun-wielders (whether or not that was the case here) to have a murderous advantage over responsible gun owners. (By the way, do stricter gun laws apply to TRAN, an organization planning a fundraiser “Benefiting firearm/self defense training for trans Virginians” too? The group is also involved in the “Trans Day of Vengeance mentioned below.)
If you’re tempted to, please reconsider before you condescendingly refer to pro-2A people as some kind of backward, uncultured neanderthal types. The pro-2A community and the pro-life community seem to often overlap….and the anti-gun, pro-abortion communities seem to often overlap. Food for thought.
There are absolutely issues that need to be addressed. Vivek Ramaswamy puts it well in this video tweet (there’s an update here). There is a mental health (including gender dysphoria — the shooter was apparently a woman using “he/him” pronouns) and morality crisis in the USA. The world is fallen and I understand that people struggle with sexuality. We all have moral struggles. Are we really loving those with issues acknowledging the reality of their genders by encouraging that unreality? Ramaswamy argues in the video linked above that it’s not even humane. This shooter was attempting to live in denial of her gender. She had some struggles.
Isn’t it interesting that the Covenant shooter just so “happened” to murder the church’s pastor’s daughter? It looks like this was his only daughter too. Who is behind this? Is this a plot to try to silence, intimidate, and bully Christians or people who stand against the trans agenda? Where is the tolerance there?
Speaking of bullying, what about Jane Fonda’s comments suggesting the murder of pro-life people? Sure, you could argue she was joking….I’m not so sure. Love him or hate him, if Donald Trump could be slung through the mud he’s been slung through over Jan. 6 (with the media conveniently omitting “peacefully” as well as his tweet urging protestors to “Go home with love & in peace”) shouldn’t a public figure throwing these words around be legally held accountable? The pro-life community and the Christian community often overlap. And then what about this “Trans Day of Vengeance” stuff?
Interesting how the headlines keep flitting around from one thing to another, isn’t it? There’s the train derailment disaster in East Palestine, OH, collapsing banks, the far too frequent destruction of various food plants, this shooting. Could it be that the powers that be are sacrificing lives (including the lives of children) to try to distract us and further cripple the freedoms of us non-elite peasants? I realize that may sound far out there, but some of the things going on are just about unbelievable.
Any event like the Covenant shooting is a terrible tragedy. I can’t imagine the grief the families of Evelyn, Hallie, William, Cynthia, Katherine, and Mike must feel. And how the surviving students, teachers, and staff must feel. This is not to make light of it. There is a problem, and it needs to be addressed. By constantly defaulting to their beloved anti-second amendment control cries the left is not addressing the problem.
Remember that “…our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms” (Ephesians 6:12 NIV). God ultimately wins, and He is the only hope we have. Make sure you’re on His team!
Absolutely! I agree 100%. Thank you for posting this. Too many people respond to manufactured, manipulated, preventable tragedies with basically 2 responses: sad and depressed -or- guns blazing.
We need more like you who are able to articulate the truth. When we call out the hypocrisy, cut through the narrative, and stand against buffoonery, the deliberate destruction of our country will no longer be allowed to run wild. If enough good people do that - good will rise again. (Love America!)
